SURGEx-LFC series is a piston operated, water hammer arrester fabricated from hard drawn seamless copper with NPT or BSP threaded male LEAD-FREE brass end connections. SURGEx LFC arresters are available in sizes AA thru F and have connection diameters from 1/2" to 2".

 

Operation Principle

SURGEx-LFC piston water hammer arrester works by absorbing the shock caused by the sudden change in water flow direction, which is known as water hammer. When water flow is suddenly stopped, the momentum of the water can cause a pressure surge that can damage pipes, valves, and fixtures.

 

SURGEx-LFC arrester is pre-charged with pressurized gas (nitrogen) and installed in the plumbing system near the source of the water hammer. When water flow suddenly stops, the piston inside the arrester compresses the gas, which absorbs the pressure surge and reduces the risk of damage to the plumbing system. The compressed gas then slowly expands back to its pre-charged state, ready for the next water hammer event.
